Join Advantage Wheelchair Tennis
If you are a wheelchair user with reasonable level of agility and you would like to try wheelchair tennis and/or join the club, please fill out the form below and we will get in touch. Applicants will be contacted individually and considered based on ability.
Advantage is a club mainly for senior players wishing to develop and compete at a high level of wheelchair tennis. You may be a complete beginner with no tennis experience or skills but a certain level of chair movement, agility and dexterity is required.
A reasonable level of fitness is also recommended and you will need to be cleared in writing by your GP to take part in Wheelchair Tennis, especially if you have any medical conditions or a specific disability that might affect you in regards to your safety while taking part in physical exercise.
Please note the following...
- Advantage is a tennis club for full or part-time wheelchair users.
- Training takes place every Thursday from 7.00pm - 9.00pm in the National Tennis Centre in DCU, Glasnevin, Dublin 11.
- Training consists of tennis game-play, fitness and technique drills that may increase your heart-rate and improve your physical and cardio fitness levels.
- Wheelchair tennis requires good hand-to-eye coordination and a high range of upper-body movement.
- You can participate in wheelchair tennis in an everyday wheelchair or a professional tennis chair - either are acceptable.
- Advantage is a senior club and although all potential players are welcome to come and try, some players may find the level of tennis too extreme.
- The club currently does not have a full or part-time dedicated coach.
- Advantage Wheelchair Tennis Club reserves the right to refuse membership.
- Joining the club will require a membership payment which covers the player for court time. This price fluctuates due to court rates and other factors so please contact us to find out more.
